Visiting a Spanish city

A holiday in a Spanish city can be a memorable one, as long as you know which city to choose as destination. Alicante can turn out to be the perfect location for you, so consider it for one of your future holidays. If it were to describe Alicante in just two words, these would be ‘’white’’ and ‘’Mediterranean’’. The whitewashed city enjoys a wonderful climate, sandy beaches, numerous green parks, a bustling nightlife and welcoming people to whom hospitality is something they are born with. As a new visitor of the city, the first thing that will pop into your eyes is the Explanada de Espana palm-fringed boulevard decorated with 6 million tiles arranged in a mosaic wave form. The sight is absolutely breathtaking and I assure you that it doesn’t look like anything you have seen before. The port is definitely a ‘’must’’ for you, because the views dominated by large cruise ships offer you the possibility to understand the essence of the city.

Sightseeing in Alicante

Alicante is a city with a very rich architectural and historical heritage, so sightseeing takes at least a couple of days, especially if you are an art lover. Start a tour with the Santa Barbara Castle, dating back to the 14th century, when its construction began (it ended only in the 18th century). The Santa Maria Basilica, dating back to the 14th century, is definitely the oldest church in Alicante. It was built above the former Moorish Mosque in a beautiful Gothic style. Renaissance style lovers have to visit the beautiful San Nicolas de Bari Concatedral, built in the 17th century. The Archaeological Museum is a ‘’must’’ for its Stone Age exhibits, so also offer it some of your attention. If you love modern architecture, visit the Mercado Central, as it displays a wonderful modernist style.

Having fun in Alicante

Sightseeing is not the only thing you can do in Alicante, as the city is a very lively one. For example, you should participate in one of the many fiestas hosted by Alicante, such as the San Juan Hogueras; the villa lloret de mar represent opportunities for tourists to enjoy the old customs and traditions of the country, as well as a lot of dancing, good music and delicious local cuisine. As for the nightlife, try one of the numerous pubs, clubs, restaurants and terraces where the atmosphere is a vibrant one until the morning comes. Have fun!
